She is known around campus for her work and dedication to students as the Executive Director for Student Life, and now as one of the 2016 Chancellor\u2019s Excellence Award recipients.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.tstc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/AdeleClinton-5x7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-665 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/news.tstc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/AdeleClinton-5x7-214x300.jpg\" alt=\"Adele Clinton\" width=\"232\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/news.tstc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/AdeleClinton-5x7-214x300.jpg 214w, https:\/\/news.tstc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/AdeleClinton-5x7-768x1075.jpg 768w, https:\/\/news.tstc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/AdeleClinton-5x7-731x1024.jpg 731w, https:\/\/news.tstc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/AdeleClinton-5x7-624x874.jpg 624w, https:\/\/news.tstc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/AdeleClinton-5x7.jpg 1500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 232px) 100vw, 232px\" \/><\/a>Clinton was recently presented her award at the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Awards Dinner and Celebration in Austin. She said this was an extra special day for her because she got to experience it with her husband and two children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only did my family get to join me, but my husband had the opportunity to present me with my award,\u201d said Clinton. \u201cI think it\u2019s really important that our sons and daughters see working mothers doing really well, not just as a mom, but also at work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This award was a great honor for Clinton especially because her peers were the ones who nominated her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo know that I was recognized for my work, at a job I love, by colleagues that are like family, it\u2019s a great feeling,\u201d said Clinton. \u201cI\u2019m honored to now be a part of an elite group who have received this award.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clinton\u2019s experience in student life dates back to her time at South Texas College, where she also earned the Jaguar Excellence Award for her efforts and commitment. She first became interested in student life while attending The University of Texas Pan American where she earned her bachelor\u2019s and master\u2019s degrees in Sociology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWorking with student affairs personnel as a student leader was so much fun for me,\u201d said Clinton. \u201cIt was easy and made sense. I know how much it affected my life and my college experience, and how much I learned outside of the classroom, that I knew I wanted to do this for others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clinton\u2019s supervisor and Vice President of Student Development Sarah Patterson said students\u2019 lives, and those of her staff, have definitely been touched by Adele\u2019s work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAdele is one of the most dedicated and service-oriented employees I have ever had the pleasure to be associated with at TSTC. Her work ethic, enthusiasm, leadership and attitude is contagious which makes her team and all of Student Development want to be associated with the great momentum for student leadership and civic duty she has implemented statewide for our students,\u201d said Patterson. \u201cAdele\u2019s strong desire to serve our students selflessly reflects in her daily actions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clinton said that in student development she and her staff aim to give students the best college experience possible.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re very student-centered,\u201d said Clinton. \u201cWe all have one goal and that\u2019s to help develop the best possible students.
